Burton F. Berg earned his Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) from Clark University in his native Worcester, MA. After graduating from Clark University, he continued his education at Boston University School of Law where he earned his Bachelor of Law Degree (L.L.B.) and his Juris Doctor Degree (JD). He is a member in good standing in the Massachusetts Bar Association.
Burton Berg’s far reaching experience includes many years of service in the public and private sectors. His abilities were recognized early in his career when the Worcester Chamber of Commerce named him as their Outstanding Young Man.
Burton Berg served as Assistant Attorney General of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts in the Eminent Domain Division where he received training and gained valuable skills representing the Commonwealth of Massachusetts in Worcester County in many ways including land takings for Route 290, Route 495, the Massachusetts Medical School, and other agencies.
He has also served as Town Counsel for West Brookfield, Massachusetts, and was the Administrator for the 4th Congressional District for the 1960 Federal Census, and is past Chairman of the Multiple Sclerosis Society and former President of Worcester County Republican Club.
After leaving the Attorney General’s Office, Burton Berg has been applying his knowledge and skills on behalf of hundreds of clients by representing them in Eminent Domain cases during the land takings for the construction of Route 1-190 and Route 146, and Medical City and takings by towns, cities and various agencies. A significant portion of his Eminent Domain trials come from attorneys who refer clients to him.
He has participated in and lectured on Eminent Domain and Land Valuation Litigation for MCLE (Massachusetts Continuing Legal Education) and lectured at the Worcester County Bar Association in the Real Estate Law Section on “Eminent Domain for the Real Estate Practioner”.
Burton Berg has obtained significant monetary damage awards for victims of automobile accidents, slip and fall accidents, negligence and personal injury cases. He is also experienced in real estate and divorce law.
Attorney Berg is certified and approved to appear as a Master / Receiver, Arbitrator and Guardian ad Litem by the Superior Court of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. He is also certified to be a Guardian ad Litem in the Probate and Family Court.
Mr. Berg has represented many clients through the years in Personal Injury cases and has obtained significant monetary damage awards for victims of automobile accidents, slip and fall, negligence and personal injury. He has also represented many clients in eminent domain (land taking) cases.
I have received my training and skills as an Assistant Attorney General for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts handling takings involving Rte. 290, Rte. 495, Massachusetts Medical School and other agencies.
After leaving the Attorney General’s office I continued my private practice in the Eminent Domain field where I have represented hundreds of property owners, more especially for the land takings for the construction of Rte 190, Rte. 146, Medical City.
In my capacity in the Eminent Domain area, I have lectured to the Worcester County Bar Real Estate Section on Eminent Domain and I have lectured and written articles with the Mass. Continuing Legal Education.
Perhaps a third of my Eminent Domain trials have come from other attorneys who have referred same to me.
PERSONAL AND EDUCATION
I am a Worcester native and continue to live in Worcester. I aso have a home in Harwichport, MA.
I am a graduate of Clark University (B.B.A. degree) and of the Boston University School of Law (L.L.B. and J. D. degrees). I was a former town counsel for the town of West Brookfield, a former Assistant Attorney General and a Special Assistant Attorney General for the Commonwealth of Massachisets in the Eminent Domain Division. I am a past participant and lecturer on Eminent Domain and land valuation litigation for MCLE (Massachusetts Continuing Legal Education) I have also lectured for the Worcester County Bar Association and the real estate law Section on “Eminent Domain for the Real Estate Practioner”.
